Why Pelvic Floor Work?

Our Pelvic Floor Womens' Health series classes are a powerful way to enhance your wellness program while receiving MFR at Monarch Physical Therapy. We teach self-treatment techniques and encourage you to make this an important part of your home exercise program to advance your own healing.

Pelvic Floor 101 is an introductory 2 week course, each 1 hour in length. This class was developed to allow for anyone to be instructed upon the basics of the pelvic floor, the fascial pelvis, and the use of MFR to self-treat pelvic floor dysfunctions.

Week 1
Intro to the Pelvic Floor

  • What is the pelvic floor? 
  • How does Myofascial Release help with pelvic floor dysfunctions?
  • Sensory awareness of pelvic floor through touch and visualization
  • Self-treatment myofascial releases of the pelvis and pelvic floor

Week 2
Feeling into Pelvic Floor

  • Pelvic breathing and dynamics of proper breathing
  • Importance of relaxation of pelvic floor
  • Self-treatment pelvic floor release/relaxation exercises
  • Daily activities and pelvic breathing/contracting

Amber Drabek, PT

Amber has been a Licensed Physical Therapist for 20 years.  She attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where she received her Master’s in Physical Therapy in 1997.  Amber’s experience as a physical therapist extends from outpatient rehab to home health.

In the Spring of 2014, she sustained injuries while on the job that led her to divinely receive physical therapy at a clinic that specializes in John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release techniques and treatments.

In November 2014, she began her training as a MFR Therapist.  Since then, she has received extensive training in the John F. Barnes’ MFR Approach and in the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute.

Amber now specializes in the John F. Barnes method of Myofascial Release Therapy and Pelvic Floor Therapy.
